Prophecies from the Past

"And you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that ye be not troubled. For these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be pestilences, and famines, and earthquakes in places: Now all these are the beginnings of sorrows." Matthew24: 6-8

Since before the time of the prophet Daniel there havebeen warnings about the
nature of thefinal days of the earth. Perhaps the best known of these is from
the NewTestament:

"When you see the desolatingabomination spoken of through Daniel the prophet standing in the holy place(let the reader understand), then those in Judea
must flee to themountains, a person on the housetop must not go down to get
things out of hishouse, a person in the field must not return to get his
cloak. Woe topregnant women and nursing mothers in those days. Pray that your
flight not be inwinter or on the sabbath, for at that time there will be
great tribulation, such has not been seen since the beginning of the world
untilnow, nor ever will be." Matt hew 24: 15-21

Aside from these references there are numerous veiledprophecies about the end
times in the Bookof Revelation and the sequence of events that must take place
before the Man ofIniquity reveals himself. Further, since the first century
there have beenprophets who have, with uncanny accuracy, and Church
approbation, described beforehand events in the times they lived in and also
prophesied aboutthe times in the far future - the times in which we presently
live. Theirprophecies form an integral part of Church Tradition. Many of their
descriptions areremarkably similar to messages recently received during some of
the purportedMarian apparitions of the last thirty years.

In reviewing these prophecies, they appear to describetwo distinct periods of
chaos andChastisement separated by a period of peace. The first and less
intenseChastisement appears to be conditional - it may be mitigated through
prayer andrepentance. It is immediately preceeded by a time of rampant
religious heresyand a falling away from the Faith in the Catholic Church -
especially in theRoman rite. This period of Chastisement ends with the rise of
a great and holyPope and a great Monarch who will eventually evangelize the
entire world tothe Catholic Faith and create a second Roman empire - this one
an empire builton faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. The second and Great
Chastisement isnot conditional. It accompanies the rise of the Man of Iniquity
who, in turn, isimmediately preceeded by a false prophet. This "prophet" comes
at a time of aworld-wide falling-away from the Faith, and the dissolution of
the second RomanEmpire into ten separate "kingdoms". These events will occur
despite theperiod of peace and plenty that God grants the world, but the timing
of them isunknown.

This sequence of events emerges from a review ofhundreds of Church-approved prophecies thathave been recorded over the last two thousand years. These
prophets werefrequently Saints of the Church and in many cases workers of all
sorts of wondersin the name of Jesus Christ. Many of their prophecies described
similar events insimilar sequences despite the fact that they were made
centuries apart,in some cases in regions of the world separated by thousands of
miles, and intotally different cultures!

The following is alisting of a few of these prophecies:

"Men will surrender tothe spirit of the age. They will say that if they had
lived in our day, faith would be simple and easy. But in their day, they will
say, things arecomplex; the Church must be brought up to date and made
meaningful to theday's problems. When the Church and the world are one, then
those days are athand"
St. Antony theAbbot - Fourth Century

"Falsehood will characterize that class of men who willsit in judgment to
pass sentenceaccording to law: between the father and his son, litigations
will subsist. Theclergy of the holy church will be addicted to pride and
injustice. Womenwill abandon feelings of delicacy, and cohabit with men out
of wedlock"
St. Senanus -Sixth Century

"The time is coming when princes and peoples willreject the authority of the
Pope. Somecountries will prefer their own Church rulers to the Pope. The
German Empirewill be divided."
Saint Hildegard -Twelfth Century

     "In the 20th century there will be wars and fury thatwill last a long time;
whole provincesshall be emptied of their inhabitants, and kingdoms shall be
thrown intoconfusion. In many places the land shall be left untilled, and
there shall begreat slaughters of the upper class. The right hand of the
world shall fearthe left, and the north shall prevail over the south."
Bishop ChristianosAgeda - Twelfth Century

"Before the comet comes, many nations, the goodexcepted, will be scourged by
want and famine. The great nation in the ocean that is inhabited by people of
different tribesand descent will be devestated by earthquake, storm, and
tidal wave. Itwill be divided and, in great part, submerged. That nation will
also have manymisfortunes at sea and lose its colonies"
Saint Hildegard -Twelfth Century

"The pope will change his residence and the Church willnot be defended for
twenty-fivemonths or more because, during all that time there will be no Pope
in Rome...Aftermany tribulations, a Pope shall be elected out of those who
survived thepersecutions"
John of Vitiguerro- Thirteenth Century

"The great Monarch and the great Pope will precedeAntichrist. The nations
will be at warfor four years and a great part of the world will be destroyed.
The Pope will goover the sea carrying the sign of Redemption on his forehead.
The great Monarchwill come to restore peace and the Pope will share in the
victory."
Abbot WerdinD'Orante - Thirteenth Century

"In the days of peace that are to come after thedesolation of revolutions and
wars, before theend of the world, the Christians will become so lax in their
religion thatthey will refuse to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation,
saying 'it is anunnecessary Sacrament'"
St. Vincent Ferrer- Fourteenth Century

"The chastisement will come when carriages go withouthorses and many
accidents fillthe world with woe. It will come when thoughts are flying
around the earthin the twinkling of an eye, when long tunnels are made for
horselessmachines, when men can fly in the air and ride under the sea, when
ships are whollymade of metal, when fire and water great marvels do, when
even the poor canread books, and when many taxes are levied for war."
Mother Shipton -Sixteenth Century(... note: not a Catholic prophecy)

"The fifth period of the Church, which began circa1520, will end with the
arrival of theholy Pope and of the powerful Monarch who is called 'Help From
God' because hewill restore everything. The fifth period is one of
affliction, desolation, humiliation, and poverty for the Church. Jesus Christ
will purify Hispeople through cruel wars, famines, plagues, epidemics, and
other horriblecalamities. He will also afflict and weaken the Latin Church
with manyheresies. It is a period of defections, calamities and
exterminations. Those Christians who survive the sword, plague and famines,
will be few onearth."
Ven. BartholomewHolzhauser - Seventeenth Century

"During this period, many men will abuse of the freedomof conscience conceded
to them. It is ofsuch men that Jude the Apostle spoke when he said: 'These
men blasphemewhatever they do not understand; and they corrupt whatever they
know naturally asirrational animals do... They will ridicule Christian
simplicity; theywill call it folly and nonsense, but they will have the
highest regardfor advanced knowledge, and for the skill by which the axioms
of law, theprecepts of morality, the Holy Canons and religious dogmas are
clouded bysenseless questions and elaborate arguements."
Ven. BartholomewHolzhauser - Seventeenth Century

"These are the evil times, a century full of dangersand calamities. Heresy is
everywhere, andthe followers of heresy are in power almost everywhere...But
God will permit agreat evil against His Church: Heretics and tyrants will
come suddenly andunexpectedly; they will break into the Church...They will
enter Italy andlay Rome waste; they will burn down churches and destroy
everything."
Ven. BartholomewHolzhauser - Seventeenth Century

"It was revealed to me that through the intercession ofthe Mother of God, all
heresies willdisappear. This victory over heresies has been reserved by
Christ for HisBlessed Mother...Before the Second Coming of Christ, Mary must,
more than ever, shine in mercy, might and grace in order to bring unbelievers
into the CatholicFaith."
Venerable Mary ofAgreda - Seventeenth Century

"The most Holy Trinity confirmed the desire of myQueen, assuring that God
will bless allthose who, by their support and help, contribute in the making
of the HolyStatue, as well as all those who help spread this devotion (to Our
Lady of GoodSuccess) throughout the centuries, making known its origin and
these apparitionsin the 20th century. This will be a time of great corruption
of customs...thesacred sacrament of Holy Orders will be ridiculed, oppressed
and despised, forin doing this, one scorns and defiles the Church of God, and
even God Himself, represented by His priests. The Demon will try to persecute
the Ministers ofthe Lord in every possible way..."
Sr. Marianne deJesus Torres - Seventeenth Century

"God will punish the world when men have devisedmarvelous inventions that
will lead them toforgetting God. They will have horseless carriages, and they
will fly likebirds"
Blessed Rembordt -Eighteenth Century

"Before the war breaks out again, food will be scarceand expensive. There
will be littlework for the workers, and fathers will hear their children
crying for food. There will be earthquakes and signs in the sun. Toward the
end, darknesswill cover the earth. When everyone believes that peace is
assured, wheneveryone least expects it, the great happening will begin.
Revolution willbreak out in Italy almost at the same time as in France. For
some time theChurch will be without a Pope.".
The Ecstatic ofTours - Nineteenth Century

"All states will be shaken by war and civil conflict.During a darkness
lasting threedays the people given to evil ways will perish so that only
one-fourth ofmankind will survive."
Sr. Mary of JesusCrucified - Nineteenth Century

"The crisis will come on all of a sudden and theChastisement will be
worldwide." .
Marie-JulieJahenny - Nineteenth Century

In addition to these prophecies, there's a prophecy notattributed to anyone and
found in anEnglish churchyard that seems to point directly at the times in
which we nowlive:
"When pictures look alive, with movement free, Whenships like fish swim
beneath the sea,When man outstripping birds can soar the sky, Then half the
world deepdrenched in blood shall die."
TombstoneInscription, Kirby Cemetery, Essex, England - Seventeenth(?) Century

In 1946, just after the end of World War II, ThereseNeumann, a German stigmatic
and mystic, wasasked by an American GI if the United States would ever be
destroyed orinvaded in a war. Her answer was pointed:
"No, but at the end of this century America will bedestroyed economically by
a series ofnatural disasters."
Therese Neumann,German mystic, Twentieth Century

Despite the possibility of natural disasters, massiveglobal and civil wars
accompanied bypestilence and famine, and perhaps even a comet or asteroid
strike, thefuture is still one of immense hope, since a period of worldwide
peace wasGUARANTEED by our Blessed Mother at Fatima in 1917. This guarantee
appears tocorrespond to the prophesized period of peace inaugurated by the holy
Pope and thegreat Monarch after the period of Chastisement as described in
dozens ofdifferent prophecies, only a few of which are shown on this site.

Further, the messages contained in recent Marianapparitions conform closely to
both biblicalprophecy and to a number of the prophecies about these times
recordedthroughout history by individuals recognized by the Catholic Church as
Saints. It wouldappear that the quantity and character of recent Marian
appearancesrelates to the proximity of the events - a period of chaos and
calamity finallyovercome through the direct intervention of God - probably
occurring in thelifetime of most of you reading this.

Mary, our Heavenly Mother, appears to be trying to warnher children that they
have seriouslyoffended God and need to change. She also gives us a method to
ameliorate theevents to come and bring hope, joy, and peace back into our lives
- the prayers ofthe Rosary.
